COME SING WITH US: ALL ARE WELCOME!
We are an informal, friendly group of people in and around York who sing Sacred Harp music together. Sacred Harp is a traditional, American form of a cappella, community harmony singing, also called 'shape-note singing'. Anyone can do it! All our events are free of charge (donations welcome to cover the cost of room hire) and open to newcomers, all ages, all voices, and all levels of musical (in)experience. Come and go as you like—there is no rehearsal or performance involved, just singing through as many songs as we can, for fun. Loaner books and explanations are available at the singings.
Read more about Sacred Harp/shape-note singing. Please join us and give it a try!
We are sing on the first and third Thursdays of every month at St Columba's United Reformed Church, Priory Street from 7-9pm.
Upcoming dates and venues are posted on our Facebook group. Or contact us for more information.
